This year, my dad and I took a different route through the Wind Rivers. We decided we wanted to target multiple fish species, including tiger trout, brook trout, and lake trout. We also brought Floating Fishing Landing Nets, which have been working well on our fishing excursions. My dad also gifted me a lightweight, solar-powered battery pack to charge my phone.
We hiked seven miles on the first day before eventually stopping at a lake stocked with brook trout.
Day two started with light snow, but after we packed up the tent and started hiking, the weather turned into a constant cycle of rain, snow, and hail. It continued throughout our hike as we crossed several large streams. It was only a two-mile hike, but the weather made it take much longer. Fortunately, we brought rain jackets to wear just in case.
The weather continued to be bad, so we stopped to set up camp and basically had to stay in the tent all day for a couple of days because of how cold it got outside. The sun wasn't able to break through the constant cloud cover. We were eventually able to fish, and Dad caught some nice golden trout in a nearby stream close to the lake where we were camped. Besides my dad catching some nice golden trout, we also fished the lake, where we both caught lake trout, and I caught some brown trout. See the photo below.
Even though the weather was stormy and kept us from fishing at all the lakes we wanted to, it was still an enjoyable trip.
