'What is your favorite or which trail camera is the best?' is a common question I get.

Answering this usually requires follow-up questions from me to know what they want to accomplish and do with a trail camera. There are so many options on the market today. For most of my needs, I lean towards the best video-producing cameras. Although I prefer video, I do have cameras that are taking photos and all of the Browning trail cameras I have used have taken good trail camera quality photos.

What is the best trail camera?

For me, the answer is clear. I love to work with and edit video, so naturally I want the best cameras for taking video. A camera that has good battery life and mounts securely to a tree is also important to me. In my case, the top trail camera has been whatever the latest model in the Recon Force line of cameras from Browning. The Recon Force line has had the video and other features I like, with improvements to the video quality with every new model. The current model is the Browning Recon Force Elite HP5 Ultra, which takes 60 frames per second of 1440p resolution video. This is awesome for slowing the footage down to half speed and even cropping in on the footage and still getting FHD video.

For video the Browning Recon Force Elite HP5 Ultra trail camera is my top choice.

Most of my trail camera footage that I share is on my social channels and almost all footage is taken with different versions of the Recon Force trail camera throughout the years. If you like trail camera footage, check out my social channels below and give them a follow.

I like that this camera has an 8 AA battery tray instead of the common 6-battery smaller cameras. Eight batteries just keep it recording longer, especially when the solar panel might get disconnected by a black bear or moose. I also prefer to fill my cameras with NiMh rechargeable batteries that I swap out along with the SD card every time I check the camera.

I like the metal mounting bracket on a Browning Recon Force Elite HP5 Ultra. Years ago, bears and other critters broke a few of my trail cameras with plastic brackets off the tree, but not a single one of my Recon Force cameras with the metal brackets has been removed by a bear... chewed on, yes, but the cameras have all held strong to the tree.
