This website started in 2009 with the idea of helping others by sharing my experiences on the range, in the field and at the bench. I also wanted to have a journal of my adventures for my children to look back at, especially after I leave this mortal journey.
For many years, I, Brady Smith, have been the sole content provider for this website. The diyhunter.com domain has taken me years to finally acquire. After my first attempts to get the domain in 2009 at the point I briefly started with 243wssm.com, then in 2010 moved to thediyhunter.com, then on to diyhntr.com in 2019 before I was finally able to get diyhunter.com in 2026. In 2024, my youngest son, Kaden, started learning the art of producing content for the web with articles written solely by him. He is doing a great job and together with my other son Dallen, I hope they can carry the torch of this site well beyond my days. With this, I am learning to say we instead of I when it comes to our website. Thank you Kaden and Dallen!
The content that we produce is our real-world experiences with us going through the process of figuring out what gear and tactics we prefer to solve the challenges we face in our adventures. Our website is not a cookie-cutter website that spews bullet point marketing copy from AI-generated content.
