Being as lengthy as I am, keeping scopes off my skull requires more length of pull (LOP) than most rifle stocks offer. For rifles, I like a 14 1/4" LOP to be able to shoot them comfortably.
On the spec sheet, the adjustment length of the Browning X-Bolt 2 rifles with Vari-Tech stocks look like they will reach the LOP I require. Vari-Tech stocks come supplied with four 1/4" LOP spacers, giving you the option to use none to all four spacers to get the desired LOP. However, to get the length I need requires one more additional 1/4" spacer. To get this extra length, I have used two different spacers and both work well.
How do I get additional length in my Length of Pull?
- First, I use a standard 1/4" spacer like the one a Maxus 2 shotgun uses. You can learn more about this in this article: Easily Adjust the Length of Pull on a Browning X-Bolt Rifle. This does require getting a couple of longer M4x25 Pan Head Phillips drive screws.
- Second, I have found that you can add one more 1/4" spacer inside the Vari-Tech stock for a total of five spacers. To do this requires getting a couple of longer M3x45 screws. I purchased a multi-length pack of M3 screws to find the right 45 mm length screw needed.

X-Bolt 2 Rifle LOP Spacers
The upper 1/4" spacer goes between the recoil pad and stock. This spacer is the same spacer used on Maxus shotguns. The smaller 1/4" spacer goes internally in the Vari-Tech stock. Vari-Tech stocks are supplied with four of these spacers. I need a fifth spacer for rifles to fit me properly.
